IBM Watson Prototype to Tackle Cancer, Starting with Glioblastoma

On March 19, IBM and the New York Genome Center announced a collaboration to apply the IBM Watson cognitive computing system to help doctors use DNA data to provide targeted oncology treatments. The advanced systems will cull through medical literature, clinical records and genomic information to present a set of medications shown to best attack the individual patient's cancer cells, making personalized medicine available at a scale and speed never before possible.
